Overview

Job Title:  Mechanical Installation Technician IV      Department:  Field Services

Reports to:  Field Services Manger                            Location:  Remote


Summary:

S&H Systems is a single-source, full-service systems integration company delivering dependable material handling systems, software, and post-sale support since 2002. The field services department is responsible for the installation of all integrated systems at our client sites across the country.

 

We are looking for a Mechanical Technician Level IV. This qualified candidate is a highly motivated individual with a wide range of specific material handling equipment knowledge and experience.  They will be primarily responsible for leading installation crews, mentoring other Mechanical Technicians, and assisting other trades as assigned. Successful candidates will have experience working on deadline related projects and able to work well in a team environment with a minimum of 6-10 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position will act as a Foreman of other Mechanical Technicians.
  • Manage the day to day and weekly timesheets for crew members assigned.
  • Manage a small job site crew by planning daily and weekly work.
  • Provide supervision for standby support for small to medium size projects.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within conveyor system installations.
  • Promotes and sets the sample for S&H’s safety program.
  • Be accountable for the entire mechanical installation at customer sites, related to onsite activities, schedule, and man hours in the absence of Install Supervisor.
  • Works closely with assigned Project Manager on customer related issues and schedule requirements.
  • Works closely with the Install Supervisors on manpower, forecasting, staffing, documenting hours worked.
  • Documents and reports any inconsistencies in engineered drawings to the Manager of Field Services for resolution to avoid delays to the installation process within 24 hours to maintain a sense of urgency.
  • Requests and documents all inspections, repair work, and equipment failures for company owned equipment.
  • Effectively communicates and sets expectations with Mechanical Technician Leads to broadcast directives down to support Techs.
  • Attends on site meetings with customer and Site Manager as needed to coordinate day to day site operations.
  • Keep an updated log of changes made from original layout of system and submits (as builds) drawings back to engineering for every project.
  • Assists commissioning team with system run-in, trouble shooting, and rate tests to ensure conveyor rates specifications are met.
  • Demonstrates proven knowledge with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within conveyor systems installations.
  • Leads with a “hands on” approach.
  • Flexible and adaptive with engineering, customer, site management, and supporting labor issues.
  • Read and interpret drawings.
  • Perform layout using datum lines and other references.
  • Layout and install ceiling support header/hanger steel efficiently.
  • Reviews and supervise the install of building air to designated drops per the Engineered drawings.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills with other employees and clients.

  • Understand and manage Lockout/Tagout operations.
  • Ability to install several types of conveyors.
  • Advanced drawing reading and interpretation skills.
  • Ability to perform and teach.
  • Advance skills to adapt procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment, as appropriate to the needs of the project.
  • Advanced lift equipment operations.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various equipment and knowledge of conveyor, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Working knowledge of the installation of platforms and mezzanines.
  • Demonstrates proven knowledge with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within conveyor systems installations.
  • Ability to run projects in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety tracking belt and following established regulations.
  • Ability to access and inspect received equipment for correctness, completeness, and quality.
  • Know and practice the proper use of a company credit card, and other company owned devices as issued and directed.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 – 10 years’ experience in material handling equipment or related field experience.
  • OSHA 30.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to perform in a physically demanding work environment.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

 Travel Requirement:

 

  • Must be willing to travel on short notice and spend up to 75% of the time traveling to client project sites.
  • Some travel on the weekends.
  • Must be willing to be on call and willing to work weekends and off shifts while at installation sites.
