Job Title:  Purchasing Agent                                     Department:  Procurement

Reports to:  Purchasing Manager                              Location:  Jonesboro, AR


Summary:

 

S&H Systems is a single-source, full-service systems integration company delivering dependable material handling systems, software, and post-sale support since 2002.

 

The purchasing department is responsible for assisting other departments identify their needs, manage the requisition process and source competitive prices, and generally act as controllers to ensure adherence to budgets.            

The successful candidates will have experience in managing relationships with key suppliers to maintain competitive pricing, timely deliveries, and contract terms. 

 

This position will communicate and implement procurement strategy with project coordination and logistics teams.  The Purchasing Agent will identify suppliers and subcontractors, vets, and negotiates terms and costs of materials as well as perform invoice reconciliation and project

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Purchases goods and services according to the company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
  • Works with vendors to negotiate volume and transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
  • Ensures that purchasing documents are complete and accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
  • Secures order acknowledgement.
  • Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
  • Works with Logistics on scheduling and verifying purchase deliveries.
  • Builds and maintains positive, long-term supplier relations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills.

 Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Prefer Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Three + years’ experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
