Senior Staff Accountant

S&H Systems is a single-source, full-service systems integration company delivering dependable material handling systems, software, and post-sale support since 2002. The accounting organization is responsible for all financial activities including financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, treasury, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

We are seeking qualified candidates to support the accounting department in managing the expanded growth of S&H Systems. Successful candidates may have held accounting or financial support positions in public or private companies and demonstrated experience in understanding rules, regulations, best practices, and performance in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in an accurate and timely manner.

This position will support all parts of our financial, accounting, and reporting functions. In addition, this person will be expected to prepare journal entries, billing statements, invoices, account reconciliations, job costing reports, and similar documents.

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
• Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
• Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Project Reporting to establish processes to track expenses by job. Including detailed financial analysis of each job; document methodology to apply overhead cost and projections
• Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
• Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss, and other statements.
• Completes external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
• Prepare and file sales tax returns for multiple jurisdictions accurately and on time. Monitor changes in sales tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Research and resolve sales tax issues, including inquiries from tax authorities. Maintain accurate records of sales tax filings and payments.
• Assist with sales tax audits, providing documentation and support as needed. Review sales transactions to ensure proper sales tax treatment.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in sales tax compliance procedures.
• Comply with all federal, state, and local protocols including legal requirements, and interpret new and existing legislation.
• Play a vital part in the company's financial management which includes all account reconciliations and reporting to necessary parties.
• Secures financial information by completing database backups.
• Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Work on different accounting projects as requested

Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields with knowledge of operational accounting experience with a medium to large size company, or bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related fields plus five (5) years of operational accounting experience with a medium to large size company.

The position is located at 2908 S. Caraway, Suite 100; Jonesboro, AR 72401. No telecommuting. No relocation reimbursement.
